2023 is upon us, so we’re looking back at a busy 2022 for Venterra and the Talent Acquisition team! The year was packed with tons of promotions, new workplace awards, plenty of community acquisitions, and more!
Awards & Recognitions
We were honored to have Venterra’s company culture recognized multiple times throughout the year. In January, Venterra was the only property management company to make Glassdoor’s Great Place to Work list based on anonymous team member reviews.
An anonymous survey of our US team members, conducted by Great Place to Work, resulted in Venterra being published by FORTUNE© as one of the 2022 Best Workplaces in Real Estate and one of the Best Workplaces in Texas for the fifth year in a row. In May, our teams celebrated Certification Nation Day with other companies who met the Great Place to Work “Certified” standard that helped lead to these recognitions.
Great Place to Work’s survey of our Canada team members resulted in numerous awards, too! In 2022, the Canada office was named one of the Best Workplaces for Inclusion, one of the Best Workplaces for Today’s Youth, and was listed as one of the overall Best Workplaces in Canada! Explore our most recent Canada and US workplace recognitions here.
Venterra’s company culture wasn’t the only thing to be recognized in 2022! Thanks to our people-first approach to customer experience, our communities received “Top Rated” recognition from ApartmentRatings.com based on reviews. And, in August, Venterra was ranked among the top multifamily companies for online reputation in the ORA® Power Rankings, as published by Multifamily Executive.
Promotions & New Hires
Keeping up with all the growth means finding new talent to add to Venterra’s unique culture while still seeking out opportunities to make good on our employer promise to promote from within.
Our learning and development platform and the addition of new customer experience roles including Senior Better Living Consultant and Renter Success Specialist helped contribute to nearly 100 promotions of Venterra team members during the year, and we had more than 300 new individuals join the Venterra ranks in 2022. To help ensure their transition from candidate to new hire was a smooth one, we added a dedicated Onboarding Specialist to our Learning & Development team.
Many of these new hires first met with us at one of our many career fairs held throughout the year. With events in multiple Texas and Florida cities, Atlanta, Nashville, and North Carolina, there was no shortage of opportunities for folks interested in Venterra to meet with our Hiring Managers in-person. We also had a great time e-meeting candidates during a virtual event early in the year. Be sure to follow us and keep an eye on upcoming recruiting events to get a leg-up in the interview process!
In a challenging year for talent acquisition, our employee referral programs also played a big part in hitting the 300 new team member milestone. Given that referred team members are often already familiar with our unique culture, they tend to be a great fit, so we were excited to have a third of our new hires come from internal or external referrals.
While 2022 referrals resulted in thousands of dollars being paid out to our existing team members, residents, vendors, and others, our search for multifamily professionals will definitely continue in 2023 so, if you know someone who should be part of our team, refer them to apply for an opportunity with us!

Acquisitions & Development
In terms of an expanding Venterra portfolio, 2022 was one for the books. We grew with the acquisition of nine existing communities including a number of Florida communities like Luminary at 95 and The Anatole and grew into new regions with the purchase of communities like Keystone in Killeen, TX.
2022 also saw the grand opening of our first ground-up community development: Highpark. The construction and opening of the Cypress, TX community marked a new and exciting chapter in Venterra’s history. Be sure to stay tuned for more development news to come!
Evolving, Innovating, & Making a Difference
Creating positive changes happens faster when we work together and embrace the opportunities that challenges can create. Venterra teams definitely didn’t disappoint on this front in 2022, and efforts extended well beyond the walls of our communities.
In April, Venterra and our team members came together to make a sizeable donation to support children impacted by the conflict in Ukraine, and our National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day event helped put more than 200 furry friends into forever homes at Venterra communities.
In line with our commitment to DEI efforts, we published an internal and external facing diversity, equity, and inclusion page earlier in the year. Highlighting our efforts to date, future goals, as well as information about Venterra demographics, the page will be regularly updated so visitors can see how we’re doing our part to create a more just and equitable company and world.
And, to foster internal changes for the better, we partnered with BrightIdea to develop our Innspire platform. Providing monetary awards for submitting suggestions on improving Venterra operations and/or the experience of our customers and team members, the site has proved a simple and streamlined way for individuals at all levels of the organization to get directly involved with shaping Venterra for the better.
Team Events & Appreciation
Staying true to our “team first” Core Value means prioritizing the experience of our colleagues. While our leaders work hard to make that happen every day, Venterra team events and appreciation weeks are another great way for us to show our gratitude for the passion and dedication of our team members.
2021 successes were celebrated during our annual Kickoff Parties by our US team & by our Canada & Ireland teams at the start of the year, and our 2022 Venterra Leadership Conference, held in November, gave our team leaders an opportunity to hone their leadership skills, learn, mix, mingle, and cut loose!
Shortly after the event wrapped up, Community Manager, Diana Stephens, was surprised to be named our 2022 WOW-EE Grand Prize Winner for using our WOW program to find amazing ways to go above and beyond for her crew.
Venterra teams enjoyed being spoiled a little more than usual during our 2022 Maintenance Appreciation Week & 2022 Leasing Appreciation Weeks. Family Fun Days, like our Houston team’s outing to the livestock show and rodeo, were a chance for families to get in on the Venterra good times. And, as usual, our team members had a great time going all-out celebrating Halloween and the holiday season!
