Our Annual Leadership Conference is an awesome opportunity for our managers and corporate team to get together to learn, celebrate, mix, mingle, and have a blast! Each year we aim to strengthen and enrich the individuals charged with keeping the company spirit strong across the portfolio.
The Venterra Leadership Conference 2018 was again held in Austin, TX where Experience Leaders had a chance to learn and keep Austin weird! Some of the areas covered in speeches at the leadership conference this year included changing demographics in the U.S., our purpose as an organization, insight into what makes some of Our Executive Team tick, the importance of emotions in resident and employee experience, an introduction to our Development Team, the traits of successful employees, handling difficult conversations as a leader, and 2018 developments on the horizon.
Keynote speaker, Dr. Debbie Phillips, entrepreneur, Real Estate Consultant, and the brain behind The Quadrillion, provided our leaders with plenty of inspiration on how to foster and develop a “growth mindset” for their own benefit as well as their team’s. Festivities at the Venterra Leadership Conference also included our annual trade show where more than 1100 pairs of socks were donated to a local homeless shelter, a “Get Your Geek On” nerd-themed party at Punch Bowl Social in line with our Lifelong Learning initiatives, prize giveaways, the announcement of our 2017 WOW-EE Grand Prize Winner, and Better Living breaks that included games, yoga, and even a healthy cooking demo, and our 2017 “Of the Region” Maintenance and Community Manager Winners were gifted a smartwatch at the conference so they could top off their nerdy look with a stylish accessory.
