With the new year upon us, we’re taking a little time to look back at 2019 and all the action that we’ve had throughout the year. With plenty of exciting news, growth, and good times, it was definitely a year for the books!
2019 started off with a bang with the announcement that we were named one of the Best Workplaces for Diversity by Great Places to Work® Institute, as published by Fortune. The first month of the year also saw the addition of Preserve at Baywood to the Venterra portfolio and all of the excitement of our glow-themed 2019 Kick Off parties. Soon afterward, we received news that 100% of our apartment communities had been recognized as Top Rated on ApartmentRatings.com.
In March our Experience Leaders embraced their inner-Parrothead during Venterra Leadership Conference 2019 and we were named one of the Best Workplaces in Texas by the Great Place to Work® Institute. Our Houston region grew with the acquisition of San Palmilla Apartments in April. Big news in May included the release of our 10th Venterra Experience Book and the addition of Neil Simon to head up our development efforts. And in June we celebrated the addition of another community to our portfolio when we finalized the acquisition of Bradford Mills Lofts in Louisville, KY.
The third quarter of the year started off with us celebrating National Mutt Day in a big way and then spoiling our maintenance teams a bit more than usual during Maintenance Appreciation Week. In August, Venterra employees enjoyed another Tropical Fun Friday and we acquired Northbridge at Millenia Lake in Orlando, FL. September saw the acquisition of yet another Houston region community, Riverbend Apartments, shortly after our teams across the portfolio enjoyed a Jersey Fun Friday and a Nerd Fun Friday!
In addition to our 2019 Halloween contests, which have somehow gotten even more competitive the past couple of years, the month of October included the announcement that we had been named a Best Medium Workplace for the 4th year in a row by Great Places to Work® Institute, and as published by Fortune. Big happenings in November included the celebration of Leasing Appreciation Week and the growth of our Kentucky Region, with the acquisition of Clearwater Farm. We wrapped up 2019 with the year’s final acquisition of Encore Grand Mission in Richmond, TX and by celebrating the holidays in style!
